Come spring at Harvard College, anticipation begins to build. What does the great housing lottery have in store? The arrival of Housing Day — an annual tradition during which first-years learn which of Harvard’s 12 residential communities they will live in for the next three years — arguably becomes one of the most exciting times of the year. More than 97% of students will choose to live on campus until graduation, many in the same community they were sorted into as a first-year.
For first-years, perhaps the most thrilling question around Housing Day is: which House do I want to be sorted into? In other words, which House is the best to live in? In this series, a resident from each of Harvard’s 12 Houses — as well as the Co-op, one alternative housing option — gives that age-old debate their best shot.
